I chose this song because it reminds me of the following passage from The Artist and the Sublime, "Finally, it is also that blessedness of will-less perception which spreads so wonderful a charm over the past and the distant, and by a self-deception presents them to us in so flattering a light. For by our conjuring up in our minds days long past spent in a distant place, it is only the objects recalled by our imagination, not the subject of will, that carried around its incurable sorrows with it just as much then as it does now. But these are forgotten, because since they have frequently made way for others. Now, what is remembered is objective perception..." This song comes to mind when I contemplate this quote because I remember it from my childhood when I watch Franco Zeffirelli's Romero and Juliet. The song reminds me of the past and puts music to the memories of my childhood which may not seem rationally perfect, but now have the beauty of objectivity of the distant past protecting them from being imperfect or subjective.
