After reading the Plato selections from the Republic and our discussion in class, what struck me was the idea of steadiness and static. The passage I took from the text emphasizes rhythm and, particularly, simplicity in contrast to complexity. I'm interested in the fact that Being and Becoming are not necessarily opposite, and that there is an element of Becoming to be who you are, which is Being. This leaves me wondering what type of music is steady in one sense and dynamic in another. I think the song I chose combine those, along with the sense of Becoming that music brings.
