The Willing escape from Platonic Forms

While reading Plato, I became fascinated with the idea of the static being. The concept that we are all to fill specific roles and embody a personhood of unchanging form. It appears as if under Socratic ideology, we are all trapped by this limited, static identity. Schopenhauer’s idea of the human will, in my mind, appears to be reactionary to this Socratic concept. As Schopenhauer says, the human being is always willing, as if attempting to be released from the confines of our static roles.

The song by the band THE SOUND illustrates this will to leave the form.
