Tarek Atoui in Sharjah

Tarek Atoui is an electroacoustic sound artist who builds his own electronic instruments, writes code for personalized sounds that interact with large acoustic spaces. I had the opportunity of working and putting on a show with him last semester at Cal. Previously he infiltrated the Muslim music scene and put on a concert that would otherwise be prohibited by the government of Sharjah. The show was approved by the government to be performed, but this is because it was not considered music by the government in the first place.
